The Shadow Imitation Technique's original purpose is to delay pursuers in order for a team to flee. With the use of a hand seal, the user can stretch a shadow up to twice the length of all of the shadows the projected "shadow" touches combined. If a target is captured within the user's shadow, the result is that the two combatants will mirror each others' movements. Therefore, the two can throw shuriken at each other at the same time if the user desires that.

Description: This jutsu is a combination of the Nara clans shadow techniques and Shadow Clone Jutsu. By using a combination of Shikamaru's chakra and his own shadow he can replicate himself and all of his own jutsus. The clone is able to withstand much more damage than a regular clone as it does not disperse with one solid blow. Its also capable of performing jutsu, however it can only perform them if Shikamaru gives it a sufficent amount of chakra. The clone does have it's weaknesses though. It loses power in direct sunlight, it can only perform more difficult jutsus when Shikamaru gives it enough chakra, and has a limited amount of time until it can return to it's shadow form. If the shadow does not return within 30 minutes of it's creation Shikamaru will die. Also during the time the shadow is seperated from Shikamaru he is very limited with his shadow possesion jutsu and thus is weakened.

Description: To begin the jutsu Shikamaru must create a shadow clone. Next using the shadow clone Shikamaru will bind the target in the shadow possesion jutsu. After the target is captured the clone will then draw a kunai and stab itself in the heart causing it to dispere while the target will take an actual kunai to the heart and die. This jutsu is most effective when the target has an actual weapon or if Shikamru is preoccupied with another target. The only downside to the jutsu is it takes alot of chakra for an effective clone and for it to be able to bind it's target in the shadow possesion jutsu.
Shadow Strangle Jutsu

The shadow gets to the Opponents body but tightens around their neck to strangle them.
Partial Shadow Enhancement Jutsu-Genin: The user's leg or arm or any other body part is surrounded by shadows, the punch or kick when going into a shadow can come out another, the hits of the kicks or punches are 5x that of normal (10x for chuunin, 20x for jounin, 50x for above jounin)
Shadow frying Pan-Genin: Shadow turns into frying pan to knock out opponet.
Shadow Shielding-Genin: can vary anywhere from a wall of shadows to a dome of shadows (strength depends on rank)
Shadow of Eyes-High Genin/Chuunin: Able to see through shadows or by way of various other shadows. Once mastered, this becomes the user's Doujutsu.
Shadow Vortex-High Chuunin: The user creates a tornado-like shadow around them, sucking in all around them, if mastered, capable of focusing on what is sucked in and tossed out
Shadow Enhancement Jutsu-Chuunin: The user's Limbs become shadow-infused (works just like partial shadow enhancement)
Shadow Portal-Jounin: User can travel through shadows, before mastering, within a mile..after mastering, anywhere
Shadow Body Jutsu-Jounin: The User's Body Becomes completely Shadow Based, and has the power of 20 Shadow Enhancements
Shadow Mist jutsu-Sanin/Kage: The user creates a mist, covered by shadows which the user controls. the opponent is guaranteed to inhale the mist and will be choked from the inside, or the insides may be destroyed from the inside out.
Shadow Bomber Jutsu-Forbidden: The User starts forming like the shadow body jutsu, however he/she latches onto the opponent, using a near-combat shadow possession, the user then blows him/herself up, killing the user and the opponent

Shadow Spirit Summoning-required level-Chuunin: Summons little shadow creatures capable of shadow possession and other shadow abilities
Shadow Reaper Summon is also part of Shadow spirit, but the user must be a jounin
